Sons are 2.7 times as likely to have the same job as their father compared to the rest of the population and 2 times as likely to have the same job as their mother, according to New York Times analysis. Similarly, daughters are 1.8 and 1.7 times, respectively, as likely to have the same job as a mother or father.
